Why Do You Need Motorcycle Insurance?

Motorcyclists know there is great risk involved every time they ride their bikes. Motorcycles can be very expensive and you will want to protect against physical damage to your bike not to mention if you cause damage or cause injury to someone else.

What Does Motorcycle Insurance Cover?

  • Bodily Injury Liability Coverage- Coverage to protect yourself in the event of bodily injury or death resulting from an accident for which you are at fault
  • Collision Coverage- Protects against damage to your motorcycle as a result of an accident regardless of fault.
  • Comprehensive Coverage – Covers for damage other than an accident. Such would include theft and vandalism.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage- Protecting yourself if someone hits you and causes damage to your motorcycle and they may not carry insurance or may not carry enough coverage to cover damages.
  • Accessories Coverage- You may cover items for damage such as your helmet.

Important Information

  • PIP insurance laws do not apply to motorcycles which covers medical bills and lost wages however some insurance companies may offer PIP insurance for motorcycles.
  • Minimum requirements for motorcycle insurance in Florida are $10,000 bodily injury per person, $10,000 property damage.
